Regretfully there will be no Canal & Music Festival in 2015…………
Thanks to everyone who has supported The Alrewas Canal & Music Festival Festival in previous years.
The 2011 event (pictured) raised £5,500 for village charitable projects.
In 2013 we couldn’t gain permission to use the wonderful site we had in 2011 and the event was held near Bagnall Lock in the field near the old Navigation Inn that now houses an Indian restaurant.
The weekend experienced a mixture of sunny days & VERY rainy nights with the consequence that attendance in the evening suffered. Despite this, thanks to the sunny days and those that did brave the nightly storms, we still managed to have a great time and raised nearly £2,000 for local causes.
We had planned to hold another Festival in 2015 but key volunteers in the village are preoccupied with the village Neighbourhood Plan and defending the village against a contentious planning application that wishes to build 140 houses on the flood plain north of the village.
Nevertheless, the Alrewas tradition for holding superb public events continues and the annual Alrewas Show – now in its 134th Year – will take place on Saturday July 18th. The amazing Alrewas Arts Festival takes place every second year and as that means it will run in 2016.
